Tiny Tin Spider
The spider is a symbol of wisdom, creativity and the complexities of life. In African folklore, the spider has been used to symbolize patience due to its hunting technique of setting webs to wait for prey. Their weaving abilities suggest that spiders are not only greatly skilled but are also able to intertwine destinies, linking the past and future. The spider is the weaver of the fabric of life, introducing both writing and the making of clothes. Old tin cans and other scraps of metal from businesses in the industrial area of Harare are turned into these delightful sculptures by these artists using snips, pliers, and hammers.
