Tiny Tin Lizard
Symbolic in most cultures, the lizard usually corresponds with dreaming and the importance of incorporating the messages from those dreams into our daily lives. Lizards also represent adaptability and agility, as they can handle extreme temperatures and have a special built-in defense mechanism to escape danger. For the people of Nigeria a lizard is a symbol of alertness and protection. Old tin cans and other scraps of metal from businesses in the industrial area of Harare are turned into these delightful sculptures by these artists using snips, pliers, and hammers.
