Seedpod Secretary Bird
Do you know why the cool secretary bird gets its funky name? Well, it is because of their quill-like crests on the backs of their heads that resemble 18th century clerks with pens tucked into their wigs. Using the seedpods of the Ulumbu Tree (Sterculia rogersii), Zimbabwean artists have created these charming little birds. Standing on hand twisted wire feet, they are between 3-4" tall and are handpainted in the rich bright colors of each bird's plumage.
