Red Finial Shaped Ornaments - Set of 4

Sale price$25.00 Regular price$44.00
SKU: TTO-RC-S4

Adorn your Christmas tree with these adorable set of Hand painted Red Finial Shaped Fabric Ornaments made by hand in Zimbabwe. The fabric is hand woven out of 100% cotton threads into a "bark weave" pattern with a beautiful texture. The resist painting process, much like batik, then begins: the designs are painted on by hand with Sadza, (a porridge-like paste of maize which is also a traditional staple food of Zimbabwe), then painted by hand in vibrant colors and laid out in the sun to dry. After that, the dried Sadza gets scraped off creating an amazing crackled effect and the fabric is ready to become the whimsical ornaments you see here. These ornaments are made in a workshop that that employs both women and men artisans, empowering them through training and reliable long term employment helping to alleviate poverty within the community. Mix and match ornament sets for YOUR unique look. Lovely on your Christmas tree or as a charm hanging anywhere else, really!
