Add a touch of refined global style to your table with these beautiful Brown MItsetse Placemats! Mitsetse means "lines" in Shona, the language (and name) of the largest tribe in Zimbabwe where these lovely placemats are made. The designs are drawn by hand with a resist painting process, similar to batik but with a Sadza (a porridge-like paste of maize which is also a traditional staple food of Zimbabwe), which gives it its fantastic crackled look and then laid out in the sun to dry.

These placemats are made in Zimbabwe in a workshop that that employs both men and women, empowering them through training and reliable long term employment helping to alleviate poverty within the community. They look great matched with the Brown MItsetse Napkins!
