Handmade Batik Safari Animal Christmas Ornaments – Set of 4

Sale price$22.00 Regular price$44.00
SKU: TTO-BA-S4

Bring a soft touch of Africa to the Christmas tree with this whimsical set of four handmade fabric animal ornaments.

Each set includes an elephant, lion, rhino and giraffe, made from richly textured 100% cotton fabric handwoven in Zimbabwe. The fabric is woven into a distinctive bark-weave texture before being decorated by hand using a traditional Sadza resist technique, similar to batik.

The magic happens in the final stage of the process. Once the resist is dried and carefully removed, it leaves behind the fine lines, natural variations and beautifully crackled surface that give the fabric its distinctive character.

No two are exactly alike. The variations in pattern, texture and finish are part of the beauty of these handmade ornaments—and a reminder that you're bringing something crafted by hand, rather than mass produced, into your home.

The four playful animals make a wonderful addition to a collected, nature-inspired Christmas tree, or can be hung from a garland, wreath, mantel or anywhere else that could use a little personality.

Made by hand in Harare, Zimbabwe, these ornaments are as much about the artistry of the textile as they are about the animals themselves.
