Yeukai Tanyara is one of the artists that hand paints our tin ornaments and tin critters. She has been a painter for Mbare for a number of years, and is able to paint from her home in Zimbabwe. Yeukai is married and has two little girls, which she helps to support with her art. She learned this craft through an apprenticeship with another Mbare artist, which is usually how skills are passed along in this community. She works with the Thomas family, who create the tin ornaments and critters from recycled cans, using only snips, pliers and hammers.
