A beautiful mother carrying her children on her back and front are depicted in this beautiful piece. Carrying your child is traditional in most African cultures, and more and more baby wearing is becoming known around the world as well. This sculpture is made using traditional carving techniques, simple tools, and generations of experience and artistry in Zimbabwe. It is carved out of serpentine stone which is polished with sand and beeswax. The heat of fire is used to bring out the colors and textures in each piece upon completion.
