Vanila Kijani Jar - Dark Green - XXLarge
This storage jar pays homage to the vanilla bean, which has its origins in a delicate flower belonging to the orchid family. The word kijani means green in Swahili and it refers to the color of the vanilla pod when it is harvested. The cultivation of vanilla is a long, intense process that can take as long as four years. The flower, which blooms only one day a year, requires manual pollination, and weeks and even months of dipping, sweating, heating and drying to cure. These factors make vanilla one of the most complicated (and expensive) fruits on the planet! This jar is made from upcycled wine bottles. A band of carved Mkongo wood conceals the airtight food-grade silicone seal that connects the top and bottom. It’s perfect not just for storing vanilla beans, it’s also great for storing spaghetti!
