Tonderai was born in 1977 in Nyanga. In this Eastern Highlands environment where he grew up he developed a deep love for art and enrolled at the Mash Home Gallery as an apprentice sculptor. Through the encouragement and motivation of more experienced cousins, Tonderai's form and expressions in stone began to take shape. He has had the privilege to exhibit his work overseas and at the Chapungu Sculpture Park in Harare.
